Microsoft 365 managed services

Get your Microsoft 365 tenant properly configured, secured and looked after - not just licensed and left alone.

Licensed is not the same as managed

Most businesses buy Microsoft 365 licences and assume the platform is being looked after. Usually it is not. The tenant was set up quickly during a migration, the default settings were never revisited, and nobody has checked since.

We manage the platform rather than reselling subscriptions: licences right-sized to what people actually use, services configured deliberately, security applied to every account, and someone accountable when it does not behave.

What we manage

Licence management, so you are paying for the plans your staff actually need rather than whatever was bought three years ago. Exchange Online, including mail flow, shared mailboxes, distribution groups and anti-spam. Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive, set up with a structure people can navigate and permissions that make sense.

Identity in Entra ID: groups, access, licence assignment and the joiner, mover and leaver process. A new starter has what they need on day one, and a departing staff member loses access the same day rather than three weeks later.

Security is the part that gets skipped

A Microsoft 365 tenant out of the box is not secure. Multi-factor authentication has to be enforced on every account, not merely available. Legacy authentication needs blocking. Conditional access decides who can reach what, from where and on which device. Email authentication through SPF, DKIM and DMARC stops your domain being used to impersonate you.

These are also the controls your cyber insurer asks about, and the ones most often found missing when a claim is assessed. SSDL is ISO 27001 certified for Information Security Management, so the standards we apply to your tenant are ones we are independently audited against.

Migrations and tenant takeovers

We migrate businesses onto Microsoft 365 from on-premises Exchange, from Google Workspace, and from other tenants after a merger or demerger. Mail, files, calendars and permissions move with a plan for cutover that does not lose a day’s work.

We also take over tenants configured by someone else. That starts with an audit of what is actually in place - licensing, security settings, mail flow, permissions and backup - and a plain list of what needs fixing and in what order. You get that assessment whether or not you go on to engage us.

Backup for your Microsoft 365 data

Microsoft keeps the service running. It does not keep a backup of your data on your behalf. Retention policies and recycle bins are not the same as a backup, and their windows are shorter than most businesses assume.

We add third-party backup for Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams, with retention you choose and restores that are tested rather than assumed. It matters most for the ordinary cases: a mailbox deleted during offboarding, a SharePoint library someone reorganised, a folder encrypted by ransomware and synced everywhere before anyone noticed.

Getting ready for Copilot

Copilot surfaces whatever a person already has permission to open. In a tenant where permissions have drifted over the years, that is the problem: staff discover documents they were never meant to see, and nobody deliberately gave them access.

Before Copilot goes anywhere near your data, permissions need reviewing, oversharing needs cleaning up and sensitive content needs identifying. That work is worth doing regardless of whether you adopt Copilot, because the same drift is what turns one compromised account into a serious breach.

Common questions

Can you take over a tenant another provider set up?

Yes, and it is one of the more common ways clients start with us. We audit the tenant first and give you a written list of what needs attention before anything changes.

Do we still need backup if we are on Microsoft 365?

Yes. Microsoft protects the platform, not your content. Recovering a mailbox deleted months ago, or a file library that was restructured, needs a separate backup with its own retention.

Can you manage Microsoft 365 if another provider handles our day-to-day IT?

Yes. Some clients use us specifically for the Microsoft 365 platform while keeping their existing arrangements for hardware and desk-side support. The boundary is agreed in writing so nothing falls between the two.
