IT services done differently

At SSDL, we do IT services differently. You won’t find us occupying an entire floor in a Melbourne tower, because our Australian IT company has a small footprint and a wide reach.

Our core team of IT engineers work from business hubs and home offices, accessing specialists from a trusted network of suppliers as required. This agile business structure makes us responsive, versatile and cost-effective. We can scale up and down as necessary, without impacting the personalised service we offer our clients.

Founded by Sebastian Maciejewski in 2014, we hit the ground running when we took on the customers and IT engineers of a well-known IT services provider that was closing shop in Melbourne. We went from a one-man-band to a fully-loaded IT consultancy overnight – and never looked back.

Today, our mission is to offer small-to-medium businesses the freedom to deploy any IT product or solution on the market, guided by expertise that ensures good choices. By being client-centric and nimble, rather than product-centric and corporate, we stand apart from our competitors in the IT services sector. Book a meeting and find out what that could mean for you.

The benefits of choosing SSDL to be your IT services company:

Meet our key people

Sebastian Maciejewski, CEO

Ringmaster of our team is Sebastian Maciejewski, who founded SSDL in 2014. Seb arrived in the IT services sector from a background of IT consulting, recruitment and sales. His experience spans enterprises of all sizes, from small family businesses to major corporates such as Toyota and Aspen Pharma. He has also worked closely with non-profits, including Guide Dogs Australia and Vision Australia.

Seb’s super power is understanding a client’s needs, then putting together a set of best-practice solutions and systems that support business optimisation and a sharper competitive edge. He’s also a Datto-certified cybersecurity sleuth who can transform chaos into calm, so that hard-working businesses aren’t impacted by hacking events.

As a new SSDL client, you’ll benefit from Seb’s insight and experience during a discovery workshop that reveals your IT challenges and opportunities. His ability to draft a roadmap for digital transformation is legendary.

Off-duty, Seb’s a family guy wrangling two school-age boys with his wife (and business partner) Sarah. He also appreciates the sweaty science of boxing, the intricate world of Lego and the mystique of motorbikes.

Sarah Maciejewski, COO

As SSDL’s witty and wonderful behind-the-scenes person, Sarah effortlessly handles everything from invoicing and bookkeeping to managing licensing and being funnier than the boss. We bow down to her expertise in Excel, SAP, Xero, ABS, SPS, inventory management and shipping.

Sarah’s wide-ranging experience was gained in the toy industry, as well as IT. Within our team, she’s the undisputed Simpsons expert. In moments of unexpected luck or when SSDL scores a particularly hard-won business pitch, she’ll be heard to say “everything’s coming up Milhouse”.

Out of office hours, Sarah loves a park run on a Saturday morning and a day at the beach with Seb and the kids (when Melbourne’s weather cooperates). She’s also obsessed with finding cool things to print on the family’s 3D printer, tirelessly adding to her collection of fidgets and gadgets.

Ian Baker, CFO

Affectionately known as Mr MoneyPants, Ian Baker is virtual CFO at SSDL. A chartered accountant who’s worked in the USA, UK, Australia and New Zealand, Ian’s specific focus is financial management for IT companies. He maintains a grand view of our business, but also has an eye for the granular details.

After 30 years of number crunching, including 15 years within the IT sector, Ian has developed a knack for mentoring and guiding IT businesses through their growth journey.

In his role as our finance guy, Ian gives us visibility of our financial position, workloads and resourcing. His expertise also extends to assisting with management decision making, where he acts as a trusted sounding board. When a challenge arises, Ian's mantra is "Let’s make a spreadsheet/dashboard widget for that."

Outside the professional realm, Ian can be found on the golf course with friends, taking leisurely dog walks, or passionately following Villa football and Red Sox baseball games. As an Apple fanboy, he also likes to stay connected with the latest technology trends.
